Every Florida Gulf Discovery cruise departs from Eldred's Marina in Placida. From there, Captain Pavel can guide you North toward Venice or South toward Naples, exploring beaches, islands, passes and Intracoastal waterways before returning to the marina.

Departing from Placida
Every trip begins and ends at Eldred's Marina in Placida, Florida.
From this central starting point, we have access to an exceptional network of coastal waterways. Instead of treating Venice, Naples or another destination as a separate departure location, we begin here and make everything between departure and return part of the experience.
North: toward Englewood, Manasota Key, Stump Pass, Caspersen Beach and Venice
South: toward Boca Grande, Cayo Costa, Pine Island Sound, Captiva, Sanibel and farther South on longer trips

Choose North or South from Placida
There is no fixed route every couple must follow.
Before departure, we discuss the amount of time you have and the kind of day you are imagining. Then we choose a direction and let the coastline provide the opportunities along the way.
North from Placida
Travel North through coastal and Intracoastal waterways toward Englewood, Stump Pass, Manasota Key, Caspersen Beach and Venice.
Along the way, we can watch for wildlife, explore beaches and passes, enjoy the scenery or incorporate a waterfront stop.
South from Placida
Travel South toward Boca Grande, Gasparilla Sound and Cayo Costa, with longer adventures continuing through Pine Island Sound toward Captiva, Sanibel and farther South when time and conditions permit.
This direction opens opportunities for barrier islands, sandbars, beaches, wildlife and memorable waterfront destinations.
Sometimes the best moment happens unexpectedly along the way — dolphins beside the boat, beautiful water at a quiet beach, an island stop or simply a place where you decide to stay a little longer.

Sightings are never guaranteed because these animals move naturally through their environment.
When something interesting appears, Captain Pavel can slow down and give you time to enjoy the moment without disturbing the animal.
Waterfront Lunch or Dinner
A waterfront meal can be one memorable stop within a much larger day on the water.
Depending on direction, available time, restaurant hours and dock availability, we can stop for lunch or dinner along the way.
Arrive by boat, step ashore, enjoy your meal together and then return to the water for the next part of the journey.

The schedule can also be arranged so dinner or the evening light becomes the final experience before heading back.
