During one of our recent boat trips with Florida Gulf Discovery LLC, we discovered how truly special this location is. As we approached the sandbar, the water became shallow and calm, revealing a wide stretch of fine white sand that sparkles under the Florida sun. It’s the perfect place to anchor the boat, relax, and enjoy the natural beauty of Southwest Florida.
A Wildlife Encounter You’ll Never Forget
One of the most incredible parts of visiting the Bokeelia Sandbar is the wildlife. During our visit, we encountered more than 10–15 manatees swimming peacefully right next to the boat, an unforgettable sight for everyone on board. These gentle giants often travel through Gasparilla Sound, making this area a fantastic place for wildlife watching.
We also spotted dolphins cruising through the nearby waters, along with many coastal birds resting and feeding along the sandbar. Ospreys frequently circle above, scanning the water for fish before diving with impressive precision.
