Family reunion boat cruises in Southwest Florida featuring Englewood, Stump Pass, Boca Grande, Cayo Costa, Cape Coral, Pine Island Sound, and waterfront dining
Family and friends enjoying waterfront dining during a private boat trip to Cabbage Key
Every trip is different, but gathering around the same table at Cabbage Key creates special family memories.

A family reunion is about spending time together — and a private day on the water gives everyone a chance to reconnect, explore and create new memories as a family.

Every Florida Gulf Discovery family adventure departs from Eldred's Marina in Placida. From there, Captain Pavel can take your group North toward Venice or South toward Naples, traveling along the coastline and Intracoastal waterways before returning to Placida.

The day can be built around your family. Stop at beaches and sandbars, swim, search for shells, watch for dolphins, paddleboard, explore islands or arrive by boat for lunch or dinner. Rather than following a rigid sightseeing schedule, we use the route, conditions and your interests to create a day everyone can share.

Departing from Placida

Our family adventure begins at Eldred’s Marina in Placida — aboard the Florida Gulf Discovery boat and ready to explore

Every trip begins and ends at Eldred's Marina in Placida, Florida.

This is an important part of planning the day. We do not operate separate departures from Englewood, Cape Coral, Venice or Naples. Instead, Placida is our starting point for exploring Southwest Florida by water.

Once everyone is aboard, the travel itself becomes part of the reunion. Family members can settle in, enjoy the scenery and spend time together while we make our way toward the day's destinations.

Departure: Eldred's Marina — Placida, Florida

North: toward Englewood, Lemon Bay, Stump Pass, Manasota Key, Caspersen Beach and Venice

South: toward Boca Grande, Cayo Costa, Pine Island Sound, Captiva, Sanibel and farther South on longer adventures

Return: back to Eldred's Marina after your day on the water

How far we travel depends on the amount of time available, weather, tides, water conditions and what your family wants to experience.

Choose North or South from Placida

Your family does not have to follow the same itinerary as every other group.

We first decide which direction best fits your available time and interests, then build the experience around opportunities along that route.

North from Placida

Milton Pass at Manasota Key — Gulf shoreline scenery along a Northbound family adventure from Placida

Travel through Lemon Bay toward Englewood, Stump Pass, Manasota Key, Caspersen Beach and Venice. This direction offers coastal scenery, beaches, wildlife and opportunities to stop and enjoy the shoreline.

South from Placida

Head toward Boca Grande and Gasparilla Sound, with longer trips continuing to Cayo Costa and through Pine Island Sound toward Captiva, Sanibel and farther South when conditions and time allow.

The route gives us direction — it does not control every minute of the day.

If dolphins appear, a sandbar looks inviting or your family discovers a beach where everyone wants to stay longer, that moment can become part of the adventure.

Beaches, Islands & Sandbars

Some of the best family moments happen after the boat stops.

Depending on your direction and conditions, we can visit beaches, islands and shallow-water areas where everyone can step ashore and enjoy the surroundings at their own pace.

Your family might:

  • Swim together
  • Search for shells
  • Walk along the shoreline
  • Relax at a sandbar
  • Explore a barrier island
  • Take a group family photograph
  • Let the kids enjoy the water while others relax

Places such as Stump Pass, Boca Grande and Cayo Costa can provide very different experiences, which is why choosing the right direction and trip length matters.

There is no need to rush simply to add another destination to the list. A good stop is worth enjoying.

Dolphins & Wildlife Along the Way

A dolphin near the Placida Trestle — a special wildlife encounter that can become part of your family adventure

Wildlife can turn an ordinary part of the route into something the whole family remembers.

Along Southwest Florida's coastal waterways, we may encounter dolphins, manatees, ospreys, pelicans, rays, fish and other native wildlife.

These encounters are natural and cannot be guaranteed. That unpredictability is exactly what makes them special.

If something interesting appears, Captain Pavel can slow down and allow everyone aboard time to watch, photograph and enjoy the moment without disturbing the animal.

A child seeing a dolphin beside the boat while grandparents watch from a few feet away can become one of those simple family memories that lasts for years.
5

Swimming, SUP & E-Foil Adventures

Add paddleboarding at Ski Alley in Lemon Bay to your personalized family reunion boat cruise.

Not everyone in a family wants to do exactly the same thing — and they do not have to.

At an appropriate stop, some guests may want to swim or walk the beach while others prefer to remain aboard and relax.

For families looking for more activity, paddleboarding can add another way to explore calm water and shallow coastal areas.

An E-Foil experience may also be incorporated when appropriate for the guests, location, conditions and available time.

One stop can offer several experiences at the same time: swimming for the kids, paddleboarding for active guests, shoreline exploring for others and quiet relaxation for anyone who simply wants to enjoy the view.
6

Waterfront Lunch or Dinner

Lunch or dinner does not have to interrupt your day on the water. It can become part of it.

Depending on the chosen route, restaurant hours, dock availability and trip length, we can incorporate a waterfront dining stop into the journey.

Arrive by boat, step ashore together, enjoy a meal and then continue exploring.

One possible family day:

Placida departure → coastal exploring → dolphins → beach or sandbar → swimming → waterfront lunch → more sightseeing → return to Eldred's Marina

The order can change completely. Some families prefer lunch early, others want a late-afternoon meal, and some would rather spend every available hour exploring.

A Day for Every Generation

A family reunion often brings together people of different ages, interests and energy levels.

That is one reason a boat adventure works so well.

Some family members may be excited about swimming, wildlife or paddleboarding. Others may prefer sightseeing, photography, conversation or simply sitting comfortably aboard while the coastline passes by.

Nobody needs to spend the entire day doing the same activity.

What everyone shares is the journey itself — leaving the marina together, discovering new places, stopping when something becomes interesting and returning with stories from the same day.

Family reunions are not really about destinations.

They are about having the people you care about in the same place, at the same time, creating another experience together.
