1 Choose Your Tour Direction

From Placida, Florida Gulf Discovery LLC offers private boat trips in two primary directions: North toward Venice and South toward Naples. The route is selected according to the type of day you want to experience.

Your tour can be built around sightseeing, swimming, beaches, sandbars, shelling, island hopping, dolphins and wildlife, photography, waterfront dining, or a combination of experiences.

Every trip is private and customized. The final itinerary is adjusted to your interests, available time, and the conditions we encounter on the water.

2 Departing Placida

All Florida Gulf Discovery LLC private boat tours depart from Eldred’s Marina in Placida, Florida.

Placida provides direct access to Gasparilla Sound and the connected network of channels, passes, bays, barrier islands, beaches, and Intracoastal waterways that define this part of Southwest Florida.

From the moment we leave the marina, the shoreline changes quickly. Protected water, island passages, open views, and coastal communities become part of the trip before we ever reach the main destination.

3 Placida to Fort Myers

A private boat tour from Placida to Fort Myers is designed as a full coastal journey rather than a direct point-to-point ride.

Possible destinations along the way include Boca Grande, Cayo Costa, Cabbage Key, Pine Island, Pine Island Sound, North Captiva, Captiva, Sanibel, and the Fort Myers area. We do not need to stop at every location.

Some guests prefer more cruising and sightseeing, while others want to spend more time on an island, at a beach or sandbar, or exploring a particular area before continuing.

The route may include protected waterways, sounds, passes, sections of the Intracoastal Waterway, and coastal waters depending on the day.

The objective is not to rush to Fort Myers. The places we pass, discover, and choose to stop at are what make the trip memorable.

4 Beaches & Sandbars

The Placida-to-Fort Myers route passes a variety of boat-access beaches and shallow-water areas that can become part of the day.

Depending on tides, water depth, and local conditions, we can stop where you can swim, walk the shoreline, search for shells, take photographs, or simply relax.

Possible areas may include locations around Boca Grande, Cayo Costa, North Captiva, Captiva, and Sanibel.

Sandbars and shorelines change naturally with tides, currents, storms, and seasonal movement, so the best stopping place is selected according to the conditions we find during the trip.

5 Dolphins & Wildlife

Dolphins and coastal wildlife are a natural part of exploring Southwest Florida by boat. Along the Placida-to-Fort Myers route, dolphins may be encountered in Gasparilla Sound, Charlotte Harbor, Pine Island Sound, and other coastal waters.

Sometimes dolphins are feeding or traveling through a pass. At other times, they may approach or follow the boat while we are underway. Each encounter is different because these are wild animals moving naturally through their environment.

Depending on the season and location, we may also see manatees, rays, pelicans, ospreys, herons, egrets, shorebirds, and other marine life.

Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed, but observing animals in their natural habitat is one of the most rewarding parts of being on the water.

6 Waterfront Dining

An optional waterfront lunch or dinner can be included as part of the Placida-to-Fort Myers journey.

Depending on the itinerary, available time, and dock access, we can plan a stop at a boat-accessible waterfront restaurant at Cabbage Key or Fort Myers Beach.

A dining stop works especially well on a longer trip because it creates a natural break between different parts of the journey while still keeping the day centered on the water.

Restaurant hours, reservations, dock space, and marine conditions can change, so the final dining location is confirmed as part of the day’s itinerary.
