Boca Grande Pass connects Charlotte Harbor with the Gulf and is conveniently reached from Placida.

Private Boat Tours near Boca Grande Pass offer a personal way to experience one of Southwest Florida’s most remarkable waterways. Departing from Eldred’s Marina in Placida, Florida Gulf Discovery creates private trips for families, couples, and groups of up to six guests. Your day can combine Boca Grande Pass with a sandbar, island beach, wildlife viewing, waterfront dining, shelling, swimming, or a relaxing cruise.

Boca Grande Pass lies between Gasparilla Island and Cayo Costa, where the broad waters of Charlotte Harbor meet the open Gulf. Strong tidal movement, changing conditions, and deep water make this more than a sightseeing stop. With Captain Pavel, the route and timing are adjusted to the day’s weather, tide, and your interests.

This is not a crowded group cruise. You have the boat and captain for your own party, with time to slow down, explore, take photographs, and enjoy the places that matter most to you.

1Discover Boca Grande Pass

The Pass is known for wide coastal views, moving water, marine life, and the historic shoreline of Boca Grande. Depending on conditions, we may cruise beside the Pass, look toward the Gulf, travel along Gasparilla Island, or continue toward Cayo Costa and Pine Island Sound.

Every visit feels different. The color and clarity of the water change with tides, wind, sunlight, and the mixing of Charlotte Harbor with the Gulf. Captain Pavel selects the safest and most enjoyable approach for the conditions.

Captain’s note: Boca Grande Pass can have powerful currents and active boat traffic. Swimming and anchoring locations are selected carefully and may be moved to calmer nearby water.

2Your Private Itinerary

No two groups want exactly the same experience. Before departure, we discuss what you would most enjoy and build a realistic itinerary around your available time and the day’s conditions.

Combine your experiences: A Boca Grande Pass trip can be combined with any other type of private tour we offer, including dolphin watching, shelling, island hopping, sandbar time, swimming, paddleboarding, waterfront dining, a family adventure, a private celebration, or a sunset cruise. The combination depends on your selected tour length and the day’s conditions.

  • An island-hopping route toward Cayo Costa, Useppa, or Cabbage Key
  • A waterfront restaurant stop when dock space and timing allow

4Wildlife Along the Route

The waters around the Pass connect Gulf, harbor, estuary, seagrass, and mangrove habitats. Dolphins may travel beside the boat or appear near feeding areas. Manatees are sometimes seen in calmer shallow water, while ospreys, pelicans, herons, egrets, and other coastal birds are common along the route.

Wildlife is observed respectfully from an appropriate distance. We never promise a particular sighting; instead, Captain Pavel uses local experience and careful observation to recognize activity without disturbing the animals.

Guests especially interested in dolphins can also explore our private eco and dolphin-watching tours.

5Waterfront Dining by Boat

A meal by the water can turn the trip into a complete island day. Depending on the itinerary, restaurant hours, and dock availability, options may include Boca Grande Marina, Cabbage Key, or other waterfront locations along the route.

Because weekend and holiday docks can become busy, dining stops should be discussed before departure. Captain Pavel can help plan the route, but restaurant seating and dockage are controlled by each establishment and cannot be guaranteed.

Your tour may include swimming, shelling, beachcombing, snorkeling in appropriate conditions, paddleboarding, or time relaxing at anchor. E-foil and paddleboard experiences can also be discussed when the trip, location, and conditions are suitable.

Activities take place in locations selected for safe access and comfortable water—not in the strongest current of Boca Grande Pass. Weather, tide, water clarity, and guest ability always influence the final plan.
