Lemon Bay runs along the mainland side of Manasota Key, connecting the Englewood area with waterways extending toward Venice to the North and Stump Pass to the South. Its protected sections are well suited for comfortable sightseeing, while nearby passes provide access toward the open Gulf when conditions allow.
Along the route, we may see dolphins, manatees, ospreys, pelicans, herons, and other coastal wildlife. Every trip is different, and wildlife sightings can never be guaranteed. That unpredictability is part of exploring a living estuary.
1Lemon Bay by Private Boat
Unlike a fixed group excursion, your private tour is built around your group. Families may prefer calm cruising and a beach stop. Couples may choose a sunset route. Active guests can add paddleboarding or e-foil time, while photographers may want a slower wildlife and shoreline itinerary.
The boat is a 2024 Axopar 29 Sun Top powered by twin Mercury 200 hp V6 FourStroke engines. Its stable ride, shaded seating, open views, and two tables make it comfortable for sightseeing, relaxing, and spending time together on the water.
Florida Gulf Discovery departs from Placida at Eldred’s Marina. From this gateway, Captain Pavel can build a North route toward Lemon Bay, Manasota Key, Ski Alley, and Stump Pass—or create a different coastal itinerary based on your requested trip length.
2Englewood, Ski Alley & Stump Pass
A Northbound private tour begins in Placida and continues through protected coastal waterways toward the Englewood area. The route may include Cape Haze, Ski Alley, Lemon Bay, Stump Pass, and the Southern end of Manasota Key.
Ski Alley is a favorite section for relaxed cruising and paddleboarding because of its protected character and natural shoreline. Farther North, Stump Pass connects Lemon Bay with the Gulf and offers a changing landscape shaped by tide, current, wind, and shifting sand.
The exact route is always Captain’s choice based on current conditions. When water depth, weather, traffic, or Gulf conditions are not suitable, Captain Pavel adjusts the itinerary to keep the experience comfortable and safe.
3Beaches, Islands & Sandbars
One advantage of exploring the Lemon Bay area by boat is reaching the shoreline without searching for a parking space. Depending on conditions and legal access, your tour may include a beach or sandbar stop near Stump Pass and Manasota Key.
Possible experiences include:
- Stump Pass Beach State Park area: natural shoreline, Gulf views, walking, photography, and shelling.
- Southern Manasota Key: scenic water, beach views, and a relaxed stop away from busy road access.
- Shallow-water stops: swimming or relaxing when tide, depth, current, and boat traffic make the location suitable.
Blind Pass Beach and other Manasota Key beaches are important landmarks along the coast, but not every public beach is a practical or permitted boat-landing location. Captain Pavel selects an appropriate stop based on the conditions that day.
4Dolphins, Manatees & Nature
Lemon Bay is part of a productive coastal estuary. Mangroves, seagrass beds, shallow water, tidal creeks, and passes support many species. Dolphins may travel or feed in the bay, manatees may move quietly through protected water, and ospreys are often seen hunting or nesting near the shoreline.

5Waterfront Dining by Boat
A dockside meal can turn a scenic cruise into a relaxed half-day or full-day experience. Near the Southern end of Lemon Bay, The Lighthouse Grill at Stump Pass Marina may be included when dock space, operating hours, weather, and your tour schedule allow.
For a longer North itinerary toward Venice, a marina restaurant may also be possible. This requires enough booked time for the complete route and return to Placida. Restaurant stops are planned in advance when possible but cannot be guaranteed because docks may be busy or temporarily unavailable.

6Paddleboarding & E-Foil
Your Lemon Bay private boat tour can be more than a sightseeing cruise. Depending on the selected experience, trip length, equipment availability, and water conditions, you may be able to add an active stop.
- Stand-up paddleboarding: explore calm, shallow water at a comfortable pace.
- E-foil: glide above the surface on an electric hydrofoil in a suitable open-water area.
- Swimming and beach time: cool off, walk the shoreline, look for shells, or simply relax.
- Photography and drone perspectives: capture the changing coastline when conditions and regulations permit.
These activities require the right location and conditions. Captain Pavel determines where they can be enjoyed safely without interfering with navigation, wildlife, swimmers, or other boats.
