Other fascinating birds include the great egret and brown pelican, which spend long hours hunting in shallow waters. Some gather near fish cleaning stations, but most are patient, focused hunters, perfecting the art of waiting for the perfect catch.
On rare and exciting occasions, I’ve even spotted pink flamingos, similar to the Aegean flamingo, visiting our waters—from Manasota Key to Pine Island Sound.
