North Port may be inland, but the coastal waters of Southwest Florida are close. From North Port, the drive to Placida is approximately 12 miles and about 20 minutes, making a private day on the water an easy addition to your visit or vacation.

When you arrive in Placida, the roads are behind you. From there, the scenery quickly changes to bays, mangrove shorelines, islands, passes, beaches, sandbars, and the coastal waters of Southwest Florida.

Your private boat tour begins at Eldred’s Marina in Placida. North Port is where many of our guests are staying, but Placida is where the boating adventure begins.

Placida gives us direct access to some of the most interesting waterways, passes, islands, beaches, and coastal destinations in Southwest Florida.

Once aboard, Captain Pavel plans the journey around your group, the amount of time available, current conditions, and the experiences you want to enjoy on the water.

There is no single destination that every guest must visit. From Placida, your route can be shaped around the direction, places, and experiences that interest your group most.

The plan can also change during the day when conditions allow. A quiet beach, a good sandbar, dolphins nearby, or another interesting place may become one of the best stops of the trip.

Traveling North from Placida opens a route through protected waterways and coastal areas toward Englewood and Venice.

Depending on your available time and interests, the journey may include Lemon Bay, Stump Pass, Manasota Key, Englewood, Caspersen Beach, Venice, nearby beaches, islands, and passes.

The goal does not have to be reaching Venice as quickly as possible. Interesting places between Placida and Venice are part of the experience. We can stop for sightseeing, swimming, beach time, wildlife, shelling, or simply enjoying somewhere that looks worth exploring.

Traveling South from Placida brings us into some of the most recognizable island and coastal waters in Southwest Florida.

Depending on the length of the trip, possible areas include Boca Grande, Boca Grande Sandbar, Cayo Costa, Pine Island Sound, Pine Island, Captiva, Sanibel, Fort Myers, and farther South toward Naples.

Longer trips allow more time to combine cruising with beaches, island stops, swimming, wildlife, sightseeing, and waterfront dining. The route is built around your group rather than one fixed destination.

A private trip gives your group the flexibility to enjoy the places that make Southwest Florida special from the water. Depending on tides and conditions, we can visit beaches, islands, shallow-water areas, and sandbars along the route.

Some guests prefer a quick stop to explore. Others want more time to walk the shoreline, look for shells, take photographs, swim, or relax away from crowded parking areas.

Because every day on the water is different, Captain Pavel can adjust the route to take advantage of conditions and locations that make sense for your trip.

Wildlife is one of the reasons exploring Southwest Florida by boat is so different from seeing the area by car.

Dolphins may appear along channels, passes, bays, and open-water routes. We may also encounter manatees, pelicans, ospreys, shorebirds, rays, fish schools, and other coastal wildlife depending on the season and conditions.

Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed, but a private trip allows us to slow down, observe what is happening around the boat, and enjoy unexpected encounters when they occur.

Your trip does not need to be continuous sightseeing. If your group wants to stop, swim, relax, spend time on a beach, or enjoy a quiet anchorage, we can build that into the itinerary.

Families may want more beach and swimming time, while couples or small groups may prefer a slower cruise with a peaceful stop somewhere along the coast.

The balance between cruising and relaxing is your choice. A private boat gives you the freedom to experience Southwest Florida at your own pace.

Lunch or dinner can become part of the adventure instead of something you do after the boat trip is finished.

Depending on the route, available time, restaurant access, and current conditions, we can plan a stop at a waterfront restaurant along the way.

A dining stop can be combined with beaches, sightseeing, wildlife, swimming, or island exploration before returning to Placida.

Florida Gulf Discovery LLC does not require North Port visitors to follow one rigid sightseeing route. Your private trip can combine the experiences that matter most to your group.
